As the youngest son of the original founder, Sid Whicher, 1986 was a momentous year for me.  I joined the family firm and married my wife, Melanie.  Although the plan was to expand my knowledge in financial services qualifying as an IFA, there was also expansion to come in my personal life and I am the proud, albeit rather harassed, father of three beautiful daughters and a black Labrador called Archie.

Experience in the business as well as my personal life has given me the insight into my clients from their first mortgage, through their working lives and into retirement, a role I thoroughly enjoy alongside running the business including overseeing compliance and the computer systems.  I now specialise in Wealth Management, which sometimes enables me to enjoy my hobbies alongside my clients, such as rugby, golf, fishing and cookery.

Diane Whicher

I have knowledge and experience in all areas of financial services and specialise in Wealth Management. I work with clients to establish their goals and tailoring their wealth to maintain their lifestyle. This includes detailed discussion on the many options available on their investments and pensions, their risk profile and tax planning.

The most enjoyable aspect for me is regular meetings with my clients, reviewing their activities and updating on their family life and experiences. It is more than a job, it is a pleasure seeing my clients and finding interests in common such as travel, cookery and gardening alongside the financial planning.

I joined Whichers in February 2003 as a Mortgage Administrator. After six years in the role, I qualified as a Mortgage Adviser, holding a Certificate in Mortgage and Advice and Practice.

The mortgage market over the last few years has become an increasingly harder environment to place business. However, I enjoy the challenge and am prepared to ‘go that extra mile’ to ensure the best outcomes for my clients.

My colleagues and clients would comment on my enthusiasm and energy and, outside of work, I enjoy socialising and playing sport, especially swimming and tennis.

I started my career as a mortgage and insurance broker in 1996 with Whichers and set up my own business sometime later to give me flexibility to start a family. I have two wonderful daughters who are my pride and joy. I now work alongside Whichers with my own clients and I have a wide knowledge and experience in these areas. I am independent and can therefore give totally impartial advice and obtain the best deals to suit everyone’s individual needs.

Buying a home is still a mystery to many people who are often not aware of the different options and costs involved. I get great satisfaction from using my skills to help them throughout the process from the mortgage enquiry to moving into their new home.

John Burrows

I joined the industry in 2000 and worked my way up to become qualified as a financial adviser in 2002. The knowledge and experience I gained along the way has been invaluable both when working with my clients and my colleagues at Whichers. I advise on all areas of financial services, specialising in Wealth Management.

The last few years have been good to me as I got married to a lovely lady, Gerry, in 2010 and in 2011 was invited to be a shareholder in Whichers IFA Ltd. My Directors felt that younger blood was needed to ensure the business continued for many decades to come and our clients continue to receive the excellent and personal service they have built their reputation upon. I relish the opportunity to ensure just that.

Toni Regan

I have been working at Whichers since 2003 and most of my time is spent working within the mortgage team. I assist the Mortgage Advisers in the processing of applications from start to completion and help to ease any problems that may occur along the way.

A mortgage can be one of the biggest financial transactions someone can take on and often involves a mountain of paperwork. A very satisfying part of my job is my involvement in the process. My skills assist the Advisers and also make the process easier and less stressful for clients.

Barbara Johnson

I have worked in the financial services industry for twenty years and joined Whichers in 2006 as an administrator. We have seen many changes in the industry and in the company in the years I have worked with them and my role has expanded considerably. As well as providing support to the advisers I run the office generally working alongside my colleagues in a happy and hard working office.

I live locally and enjoy travelling, gardening, reading and spending time with my family. I have three children and two grandchildren.

Donna Kinser

As the bookkeeper at Whichers I am all important as I hold the purse strings. I also assist with the day to day operations of the company and compliance reporting to our regulators, the FSA, to ensure we do not fall foul of the ever changing rules. The importance of this is high as our clients need to know we give a professional and fully compliant service both now and in the future.

As I became a mother in 2009 to Daniel I now work part-time and the company have facilitated my change of circumstances as has always been their practice with the staff.

Sarah Catford

I have worked at Whichers for well over 20 years, starting as an office junior in the 1980’s with Sid Whicher, making the tea, filing etc. Over the years the scope of my role has increased as I have developed my skills and responsibilities. I pride myself on my reliability and organisational abilities and now have a key role as an Admin/PA with a wide knowledge of the business and Whichers’ clients.

Having taken a few years break to have my two lovely children, I returned in 2001 and, after all that time, I am still happy to make the tea!!

David Evans

I have over 24 years’ experience in financial services and now specialise in mortgages and all areas of protection. In 1989 I joined the Prudential as an ‘office boy’ and worked my way up to become a Financial Adviser. 2001 saw me join Whichers and a few years later I had the privilege of becoming a Director of the company.

Although I have a base in the office, I spend the majority of my time ‘out on the road’ seeing clients, at a time convenient to them, which may be day or evening. I have known most of my clients for many years and they have become friends. I have seen their children grow, and I am now helping those children.

My hobbies, when not at work, include spending time basking in the sunshine in Portugal and following Spurs, a team I have supported since childhood.

Sam Cox

I have been working in Financial Services sinse 1999, specialising in mortgages and insurance. For much of this time I have been working alongside Whichers. This ever changing market is fast paced and every day brings a new challenge, which keeps me on my toes.

I very much enjoy the customer liaison part of my job, meeting and getting to know my clients and the satisfaction I get from helping them achieve their aims and ambitions. Over the years many of my clients have grown up with me and we have had the same personal achievements, such as marriage, children and new homes. I look forward to continuing to grow and assist them long into the future.

Lorraine Bowen

I am a relative newcomer to Whichers, and have brought with me a wide range of knowledge and experience, having worked in the financial services industry my whole working career. My role is to provide administration support to the Financial Advisers.

I have enjoyed dealing with our Clients and ensuring that we provide them with the best service available. It is important to me that we maintain our excellent level of customer service at all times.

I am a Mum of two young children and chose to return to work last year. Settling in at Whichers has been easy as everyone here is friendly and committed.
